The longest nerve in our body is the sciatic nerve. It begins in the lower back and runs all through the buttocks and down the legs. The sciatic nerve supplies sensation to the lower leg and skin of the foot and innervates muscles too. Sometimes, that nerve is pinched by a degenerative disc disease, herniated disc, spinal stenosis and some other abnormalities that are going to result in severe pain and a condition which is known as sciatica.
Sciatica manifests by weakness, numbness, and sharp leg pain in the lower back and the leg and it can seriously affect your mobility. The pain could worsen overnight and it may be the reason for your insomnia. Usually the condition is treated with painkillers, but you also need to know that there are a several simple exercises which is going to make the pain go away in very short time.

For this exercise, you need to lie down on the back on the floor and bend the leg that hurts you, then pull it towards your shoulder and keep the position for around 30 seconds from the moment you feel the stretch. Straighten the leg and take a short break, then repeat the process several more times.
You need to lie down on the floor and bend the knees, then pull them toward your chest. Remember to keep your buttocks on the floor. Then cross the legs and pull the healthy leg with your hand, and keep the position for about 30 seconds and then get back to the original position. Repeat this stretch 2 times.
